ABOUT

"Story is the language of the heart." - John Eldredge

Storytelling is a largely unspoken building block of the human experience. It is through stories that we build connections with others in our lives, and it is through stories that we gain the understanding and wisdom to help us forge a meaningful life.  As 21st century humans, we are surrounded by stories constantly, whether it’s through movies, tv, books, social media, or the news. We engage with these stories all the time, but rarely do we take the time to step back and look at our personal life journey as a story all it’s own.

History is defined by stories of ordinary people overcoming seemingly insurmountable challenges. Heroes and heroines all through time have invented life-saving medicine, turned the tide of wars against evil, freed people from slavery, and shown the world what is truly possible for humans to accomplish. It is these stories that we look to for inspiration and it is these stories that give us hope for the future and for ourselves, if we let them.

You see, it’s all too easy to go through life believing that the stories of people rising up and changing the world portrayed throughout history and in entertainment are not for us. We are tricked into believing that our version of ordinary is somehow lesser than the version of ordinary where some of the most legendary figures of all time began. To hear these stories and believe that we are any less capable of doing great things is a disservice to everything that we are.

Art of Story exists to help you bridge the gap between your ordinary and your deeper story. It is my mission to deliver and facilitate compelling stories through imaging arts, writing, and remarkable real-world experiences. I strive to inspire every individual to live out a unique personal adventure by pursuing what makes them come alive, cultivating a desire to serve, and striving to connect more deeply with the people and world around them. We may not all have an opportunity to make the history books or the big screen, but we each deserve a chance to live a life that is true to our potential and have a positive impact on the world around us.

Okay. Whew. That was deep. Anyway, my name is Zach Wiegert. I’m an adventurer, artist, writer, and parkour coach/athlete from the suburbs of Denver, Colorado. I have a deep passion for the outdoors that started with a love for photography. Both of those passions have grown in tandem over the years and eventually led me to an “Aha moment” when I realized that even more than I love photography, I love stories. The time I've spent in the mountains, deserts, and other incredible landscapes of this airborne space rock we call home have led to some truly remarkable stories and taught me more than I ever could’ve imagined. Every experience was deeply profound and I began to see the outdoors as a proving ground that could open my eyes to a deep level of understanding about my own path.

I’ve founded Art of Story because I want to open the doors for people to start engaging with their own stories in a deeper way and help amplify the stories of those who may not be able to on their own. Through my photography, films, and writing, I hope people will find inspiration to look a little deeper into who they are and who they are made to be.

I’m excited to have you along for the journey. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
